Pastourelle de Clerc Milon 2020 is the second wine of Château Clerc Milon in Pauillac, made from the same estate vineyards as the château's grand vin. In this vintage, merlot forms the largest part of the blend, supported by cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and a small proportion of carmenère. It gives the wine a rounder, more supple expression while keeping the structure and identity of Pauillac clearly in view.The grapes come from the estate's approximately 41 hectares on the Mousset gravel ridge near the Gironde, where deep gravel, sand, clay and limestone all play a role. Vinification takes place parcel by parcel in the Clerc Milon cellar, with gravity used to handle the fruit and must gently. The wine then matures for 12 months in second-use barriques.
The 37.5 cl half-bottle format is a useful one: it lets you enjoy a serious Pauillac without opening a full bottle.
