Flavour notes

Product info about Chateau Ausone 2020
Château Ausone 2020 is a Saint-Émilion with a very clear sense of origin. It is the grand vin of Château Ausone, drawn from the small estate's limestone and clay-limestone slopes and plateau in Saint-Émilion. For the 2020 vintage, it was classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé A under the classification in force at that time.The blend is 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Merlot, a composition that gives the wine depth, structure and a strong Cabernet Franc signature. The grapes were harvested by hand in September 2020, then vinified traditionally by parcel. Maturation took place for around 20 months in entirely new French oak barriques.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Bordeaux we would introduce as a serious cellaring wine rather than a bottle for immediate drinking. Château Ausone is one of the most remarkable wineries from the Saint-Émilion region in Bordeaux, France. The vineyard covers a relatively small area on the rocky slopes just outside the historic village of Saint-Émilion, where the unique terroir plays an important role in the expression of the wines. This estate belongs to the rare group of Premier Grand Cru Classé A, the highest classification within the wines of Saint-Émilion, which gives it a special status in the Bordeaux region. The owner of the estate is traditionally the Vauthier family, who are known for cherishing traditional viticulture methods in combination with modern knowledge.
