Chapelle d'Ausone 2022 is the second wine of Château Ausone, although that description hardly makes it feel secondary. This red Saint-Émilion Grand Cru comes from the same limestone plateau and clay-limestone slopes that define the estate, with this cuvée centred on younger vines and selected parts of the terroir.Cabernet franc leads the 2022 blend, supported by merlot and a small proportion of cabernet sauvignon. The grapes were hand-harvested and carefully sorted before parcel-by-parcel vinification with native yeasts in small wooden foudres. The wine then spent 20 months in new barriques in the estate's underground limestone quarries. That setting is more than a romantic detail; it connects naturally with the chalky, mineral tension often mentioned in tasting impressions of this vintage.
The magnum format gives this bottle a quietly serious presence. At 1.5 litres, it does not change the wine's identity, but under proper storage it can encourage slower development than a standard bottle. Several drinking windows place the 2022 in the future, with suggestions beginning from 2027, 2028 or even around 2030, and ageing potential estimated to around 2040 to 2050.

About CH AUSONE
Château Ausone is one of the most remarkable wineries from the Saint-Émilion region in Bordeaux, France. The vineyard covers a relatively small area on the rocky slopes just outside the historic village of Saint-Émilion, where the unique terroir plays an important role in the expression of the wines. This estate belongs to the rare group of Premier Grand Cru Classé A, the highest classification within the wines of Saint-Émilion, which gives it a special status in the Bordeaux region. The owner of the estate is traditionally the Vauthier family, who are known for cherishing traditional viticulture methods in combination with modern knowledge. The wines of Château Ausone are usually characterized by complexity, refined structure and the potential for long aging.
