Product info about Chapelle D'ausone 2020
Chapelle d'Ausone 2020 is the second wine of Château Ausone in Saint-Émilion, made on the same estate as the Grand Vin. It is drawn from selections of younger vines and parcels not included in the first wine, while being produced under comparable conditions. That makes it a serious Saint-Émilion Grand Cru in its own right, carrying the Ausone signature through a slightly different expression.The 2020 blend is led by Cabernet Franc, at 60%, with 35% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. That Cabernet Franc presence is central to the wine's aromatic, floral and savoury side. Its origin on the estate's clay-limestone slopes and asteria limestone also supports the chalky, mineral impression noted across tasting descriptions.
Maturation lasted 20 months in barrique, with vintage-specific sources referring to new oak. In its youth, the oak is part of the wine's frame, alongside fine but firm tannins, fresh acidity and a precise finish. Several critical drinking windows place the wine firmly in long-ageing territory, underlining the structure of the 2020 vintage.

Château Ausone is one of the most remarkable wineries from the Saint-Émilion region in Bordeaux, France. The vineyard covers a relatively small area on the rocky slopes just outside the historic village of Saint-Émilion, where the unique terroir plays an important role in the expression of the wines. This estate belongs to the rare group of Premier Grand Cru Classé A, the highest classification within the wines of Saint-Émilion, which gives it a special status in the Bordeaux region. The owner of the estate is traditionally the Vauthier family, who are known for cherishing traditional viticulture methods in combination with modern knowledge.
