It is the château's second wine, made from selected parcels within the appellation, with cabernet sauvignon playing the leading role in the blend alongside merlot and a small proportion of petit verdot.The 2021 vintage shows a classical Bordeaux profile here. Freshness, precision and structure are more important than sheer ripeness. The gravelly soils of Saint-Julien and the influence of the Gironde estuary support a wine built around dark fruit, tension and a firm yet refined tannic frame.
Maturation for 12 months in French Bordeaux barriques, including a significant share of new oak, gives the wine extra shape without pushing the cabernet character aside. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a respected winery from the Bordeaux region in France, more specifically located in the Saint-Julien appellation. The estate owes its name to the striking pebbles (beaux cailloux) in the soil, a feature that contributes to the character of the wines. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou belongs to the so-called Deuxièmes Crus Classés according to the famous 1855 classification. The estate has a rich history that dates back to the 18th century and has been managed by the Borie family since 1941. In the vineyards, mainly cabernet sauvignon is planted, supplemented with merlot, which is typical for Saint-Julien.
