Valdespino Niños Pedro Ximénez VORS is not an everyday sweet sherry. It is a very old Pedro Ximénez from Jerez, classified as VORS: Very Old Rare Sherry, a designation used for wines with a certified average age of more than 30 years.This 50 cl bottling comes from a small selection of casks within the Valdespino PX El Candado solera. Only eight casks are available for Niños, and Valdespino's technical information places the wine at more than 60 years old. That long oxidative ageing helps explain its remarkable depth, density and almost opaque mahogany colour.

About VALDESPINO
The first seeds of Bodegas Valdespino were sown in 1264, when Don Alfonso Valdespino was granted an estate in Jerez de la Frontera by King Alonso for his help in the struggle against the Moors. In the meantime, Valdespino has become a purveyor to, among others, the Spanish and Swedish royal families. The Pedro Ximenez grapes are hand-harvested and sun-dried until they are almost raisins. This gives El Candado its lush sweetness. The sherry then matures on average for more than 10 years under oxidative aging. El Candado has an intense mahogany color with aromas of dried fruit (raisins and figs) and subtle notes of roasted coffee beans, mocha, and sweet licorice. Velvety soft in taste with a long, silky finish. El Candado owes its name to the Spanish word for "padlock", and each bottle was sealed with one.
