Château Canon La Gaffelière 2021 is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Émilion Grand Cru and the grand vin of the château. The estate carries Premier Grand Cru Classé status in Saint-Émilion, yet the real interest of this vintage lies in its shape: fresh, precise and aromatic, rather than broad or heavy.The blend is 45% cabernet franc, 35% merlot and 20% cabernet sauvignon. In the cooler and wetter 2021 vintage, frost and mildew pressure affected certain merlot parcels, giving cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon a more prominent role than usual. That helps explain the wine's floral, spicy and mineral drive.
The estate works organically and is certified FR-BIO-10. Grapes were hand-harvested in small crates, carefully sorted, fermented in wooden vats and matured for 15 months on fine lees in oak barrels, 40% of them new. The wine was bottled at the château and left unclarified, keeping the focus on definition and structure.

Château Canon La Gaffelière is a French winery located in the renowned appellation of Saint-Emilion in Bordeaux. The estate is known for its vineyards situated at the foot of the limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion, a location that is favorable for the ripening of mainly Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
