Vecchio Amaro Del Capo is an Italian amaro originating from Calabria in the far south of Italy. The liqueur is produced by Distilleria Caffo, a family business with roots dating back to 1915. The name refers to Capo Vaticano, a famous cape on the Calabrian coast that forms the heart of the production area. The recipe is based on a combination of twenty different local herbs, flowers, roots, and fruits, including orange peel, chamomile, licorice, and juniper. This results in a bittersweet profile, with fresh and spicy notes providing a distinctive character. Vecchio Amaro Del Capo is traditionally served ice cold, preferably from the freezer, which enhances the flavors and is typical for this amaro. Due to its clear regional origin, authentic composition, and recognizable taste, this is one of the better-known amaro brands from southern Italy.
