Domaine Billaud-Simon Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu 2022 is a white Burgundy from Chablis, made from chardonnay and rooted in one of the appellation's premier cru sites. Mont de Milieu has a particularly evocative name: historically, the hill marked a boundary between Chablis, then linked with Champagne, and Fleys, under the Duchy of Burgundy.The wine is closely tied to its Chablis setting. The Kimmeridgian soils, rich in limestone, marine sediments and shell remains, are part of the mineral and iodine-like expression that Domaine Billaud-Simon associates with its style. For the 2022 vintage, the fruit came from four parcels within Mont de Milieu, giving the wine a clear identity within the estate's premier cru range.
The 2022 vintage is described as pure, finely structured, perfumed and long. A warm, dry growing season brought ripe fruit, while the wine retains the freshness expected of Chablis. Part of the blend was matured in barrel and the rest in tank; where oak is present, it is subtle, adding support rather than dominating the aromatics.

Domaine Billaud-Simon is a French wine producer from the Chablis region in Burgundy, fully dedicated to white wines made from the Chardonnay grape. The estate was founded in the year 1815 and has a long history within this wine region. Located close to the Serein river, Domaine Billaud-Simon owns dozens of hectares of vineyards, including some plots in the prestigious Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards of Chablis. The wines are known for their pronounced mineral character and fresh style, something strongly influenced by the chalky soils of the region. Since 2014, the estate has been part of Domaine Faiveley, another well-known house from Burgundy, but Billaud-Simon operates under its own name and identity.
