Château Léoville Barton 2020 is the grand vin of the estate, a red Bordeaux from Saint-Julien in the Médoc. The vineyard lies in the heart of the appellation, on gravel slopes facing the Gironde with a clay subsoil. That setting matters in the glass: this is a Cabernet-led Saint-Julien built around structure, dark fruit and freshness.The 2020 blend is 85.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14.5% Merlot. The grapes were harvested by hand, sorted, then vinified by parcel in temperature-controlled wooden vats. Maturation lasted 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of them new, giving the wine depth and shape while keeping the Saint-Julien identity firmly in view.
In the Bordeaux range at Drankenshop Broekmans, this is a serious bottle: a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, produced in a vintage marked by concentrated fruit and limited yields. The drinking windows mentioned for this wine point towards patience, with development expected from around 2027 and well beyond.
