Château Rauzan-Ségla 2020 is the grand vin of this Margaux estate in Bordeaux. Cabernet sauvignon leads the blend at 60%, supported by merlot, petit verdot and a small proportion of cabernet franc. As a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 Médoc classification, it sits firmly within the historic framework of classified growth Bordeaux.The 2020 growing season brought a very mild winter, a warm and wet spring, dry conditions from mid-June to mid-August and high temperatures in early September. The grapes were hand-harvested in small crates, parcel by parcel and even within individual parcels, followed by manual sorting. Maturation took place over 18 months in French oak barriques, 60% of them new, giving the wine structure and depth without moving away from its Margaux refinement.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Bordeaux we would describe as a wine with patience built into it. Several published drinking windows place its best drinking period only after further bottle age, underlining its capacity to develop. Serve at around 17 to 18 °C. It has the scale and structure for red meat, roast dishes and richer preparations of poultry or game birds, including pheasant.

About CH RAUZAN SEGLA
Château Rauzan-Ségla is a respected name within the Bordeaux region, specifically in the Margaux appellation of the Médoc. This French winery has a long history dating back to the 17th century, when Pierre de Rauzan laid the foundations of the current estate. Today, Rauzan-Ségla is part of the châteaux classified as Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification, which marks a distinctive position within the wine world. The estate has extensive vineyards with classic Margaux terroir, where mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are cultivated, often supplemented with small amounts of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The wines are known for their elegant, layered character and their ability to age beautifully, making them popular among collectors and connoisseurs. Since 1994, Château Rauzan-Ségla has been owned by the Wertheimer family (also known from Chanel), who have invested greatly in quality and modernization without losing the authentic character.
