About DON FULANO

Don Fulano is het product van de familie Fonseca, die al 5 generaties lang agave verbouwen en distilleren. Hun verhaal start in Atotonilco, een stad in de hooglanden van Jalisco. Als afstammelingen van Portugese immigranten werd de familie al snel gerespecteerd als boeren en baatten ze een winkel uit in de stad. Laat in de 19de eeuw begonnen ze dan agave te verbouwen, die ze verkochten aan de eerste lokale tequiladistilleerders in de streek. Zo werden ze stilaan de grootste lokale leveranciers van agave. In de jaren 1980 kwam er dan ook een eigen distilleerderij toen ze de legendarische La Tequilena konden overnemen. Enrique Fonseca had al heel wat geleerd over tequila in Mexico, maar besloot om zijn kennis over distilleren nog uit te breiden met een studiereis door Europa. Zowel in Frankrijk als in Schotland leerde hij essentiële zaken die zijn eigen product op een hoger niveau zouden tillen.
