Flavour notes

The wine shows an opaque ruby colour in the glass. Aromatically, it opens with ripe cassis and blackberry, followed by espresso and cedar. Other tasting notes for this vintage also mention blackcurrant, cherry, blueberry, tobacco leaf, chocolate, hazelnut, truffle, eucalyptus, coffee bean and earthy nuances.

On the palate it sits between medium-to-full and full-bodied, with ripe dark fruit and a powerful yet focused structure. The tannins are described as silky and polished, while fresh tension keeps the wine lively. The finish is long, refined and cleanly shaped.

Product info about Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is a dry red wine from Rutherford in Napa Valley, made from estate-grown fruit at Inglenook. Cabernet Sauvignon is firmly at the centre of the blend, accounting for 95%, with small proportions of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot completing the wine. The fruit comes from organically farmed parcels on the Inglenook Estate, including Chateau, Cohn, Creek, Gate, Gio, La Lomita, Lower Cask, Red Barn and Walnut.

There is a strong sense of estate history behind this bottle. Inglenook presents this Cabernet Sauvignon as a tribute to John Daniel Jr., linked to the renowned Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon 1941, and to the Bordeaux cuttings brought to the estate by founder Gustave Niebaum. That context gives the wine more than just varietal identity; it places it within a longer Rutherford Cabernet tradition.

For the 2018 vintage, Inglenook describes well-timed spring rain and moderate temperatures during the growing season, conditions that supported a generous, high-quality harvest. The wine was matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, 43% of them new, adding depth and polish around the ripe dark-fruited core.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Napa Cabernet we like to present when someone is looking for a serious estate wine with provenance and structure. As these are the last bottles, the 2018 vintage has added appeal for anyone who enjoys Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon with some development already behind it.

About INGLENOOK

Inglenook is a historic wine brand from California, United States, that has its roots in the famous Napa Valley. The brand was originally founded in 1879 by the Finnish sea captain Gustave Niebaum, who with his passion for winemaking managed to establish one of the earliest quality estates in Napa. Over the years, Inglenook has had several owners, but the estate's reputation remained long associated with high-quality wines, mainly cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Since 2011, the vineyards and estate have once again been managed under the name Inglenook, after film director Francis Ford Coppola, already the owner, succeeded in reuniting both the historic name and the estate. Characteristic for Inglenook is the focus on traditional vinification techniques and the use of grapes from its own vineyards in Rutherford, an area known for its exceptional terroir. The wines of Inglenook are often distinguished by their aging potential and balanced style, which makes the brand popular among both connoisseurs and wine enthusiasts interested in the rich Napa past.
