About OCHO
Ocho is a Mexican tequila brand that receives international appreciation due to its strong focus on terroir and transparency in their production process. The tequila is made through a collaboration between the Camarena family, a well-known name within the Mexican tequila world, and tequila expert Tomas Estes. Ocho is produced at La Alteña Distillery, located in the highlands of Jalisco, where conditions are ideal for growing blue agave, the main ingredient of tequila. What makes Ocho unique is that each batch comes from a specific field, highlighting subtle differences in flavor that terroir can produce, similar to the way wine is approached. For production, they use fully mature, hand-harvested agave plants and a traditional, fairly labor-intensive method of processing, fermenting, and distilling. Ocho is one of the few brands to list the year and origin of the agave on their labels. The assortment includes blanco, reposado, and anejo variants, each type having its own character but always retaining the pronounced, earthy profile of 100% agave. This way, Ocho offers tequila with depth, transparency, and a focus on origin that is rarely seen at this scale.
