Chateau Leoville Barton 2019 is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Julien, made by an estate classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification. This is the château's grand vin, built around Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot completing the blend.For the 2019 vintage, the blend is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Merlot. The grapes come from Garonne gravel slopes facing the Gironde, with clay-gravel subsoil. That origin helps frame the wine's identity: dark fruit, structure, freshness and the kind of serious build associated with ageworthy Saint-Julien.
In the cellar, vinification is carried out parcel by parcel in temperature-controlled wooden vats, followed by around three weeks of maceration. The wine then matures for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of them new. The technical detail matters here because it supports the style described for this vintage: powerful, concentrated and firmly structured.
