Alter Ego 2020
In stock
Alter Ego 2020 comes from Margaux and carries the signature of Château Palmer, but from a deliberately different angle. Introduced from the 1998 vintage, Alter Ego is presented by the estate as another interpretation of the same Palmer terroir, with an emphasis on suppleness, ripe aromatic expression and fruit that can be approached earlier than the grand vin.
The 2020 blend is 50% cabernet sauvignon, 46% merlot and 4% petit verdot. That balance says a great deal about the wine: merlot brings ripeness and flesh, cabernet sauvignon provides structure and depth, while petit verdot adds a spicy accent. The grapes come from Château Palmer's estate vineyards in Margaux, on gravel terraces near the Gironde, where the soils are well drained, poor in organic matter and (…)Alter Ego 2020 Demi (37,5cl)

Alter Ego 2020 Demi (37,5cl)
In stock
Alter Ego de Palmer 2020 is the second red wine of Château Palmer in Margaux, created as a distinct interpretation of the estate rather than a simple afterthought. It comes from the same domaine, but is shaped in a style that is more approachable in youth than the grand vin. The demi format of 37.5 cl makes it especially attractive when you want the experience of a serious Bordeaux without opening a full bottle.
The 2020 blend is led by cabernet sauvignon and merlot, with a small share of petit verdot, all from Château Palmer's vineyards in Cantenac, in the centre of the Margaux appellation. The vines grow on gravel terraces, and the vintage itself was an early and contrasted one, moving from a wet spring to warm, dry conditions before harvest took place between (…)Alter Ego 2020 Magnum (1,5l)

Alter Ego 2020 Magnum (1,5l)

Alter Ego 2020 Magnum shows a different side of Château Palmer in Margaux. It comes from the same estate and the same terroir approach, yet since its introduction in 1998 it has been shaped around fruit, suppleness and earlier approachability rather than mirroring Palmer's Grand Vin.
The 2020 vintage gives this release a more serious frame. The season started early, with a wet spring that required careful vineyard work, followed by warmer and drier conditions. Château Palmer describes the year through sunny merlots, refined yet powerful cabernets and a clear expression of the Margaux terroir. The blend is 50% cabernet sauvignon, 46% merlot and 4% petit verdot, matured for 18 months in wooden barrels.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this magnum as (…)Alter Ego 2021

Alter Ego 2021
In stock
Alter Ego 2021 comes from Margaux, from Château Palmer's terroir in Cantenac. Since the 1998 vintage, Alter Ego has stood as its own expression alongside the château's grand vin, shaped by the same origin but with its own identity.
The 2021 vintage in Bordeaux was Atlantic and moderate in character, with a cold start, spring frost and disease pressure, followed by a drier period as harvest approached. In this setting, cabernet sauvignon plays a larger role than usual in the blend: 60%, with 32% merlot and 8% petit verdot. That gives Alter Ego 2021 a more classical, structured feel, with freshness, dark fruit, fine tannins and graphite-like definition taking the lead.
Maturation lasted around 20 to 22 months, partly in 225-litre barrels and partly (…)Alter Ego 2021 Demi (37,5cl)

Alter Ego 2021 Demi (37,5cl)

Alter Ego 2021 Demi is the half-bottle format of Alter Ego de Palmer, the other wine of Château Palmer in Margaux. It comes from the same estate and the same Margaux terroir, yet it is shaped with a more supple, fruit-driven and earlier-drinking personality than the grand vin.
The 2021 vintage is especially notable for its cabernet sauvignon-led blend: 60% cabernet sauvignon, 32% merlot and 8% petit verdot. For Alter Ego, that is a particularly high share of cabernet sauvignon, and it suits the fresher, more linear nature of the year. Ageing took place in two stages, with 12 months in barrique followed by 12 months in foudre, giving the wine structure while keeping the Margaux identity clearly in view.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we would place this among (…)Alter Ego 2022

Alter Ego 2022
In stock
Alter Ego 2022 is Château Palmer's Margaux interpreted in a deliberately different way from the estate's grand vin. Since the 1998 vintage, Alter Ego has been made as its own expression of the Palmer terroir rather than as a simple remainder selection. In 2022 the blend is 51% merlot, 43% cabernet sauvignon and 6% petit verdot, bringing together ripeness, structure and a discreet spicy accent.
The vintage came from a warm, dry growing season, with smaller berries and skins that contributed a clearly defined tannic frame. Palmer vinifies parcel by parcel in temperature-controlled conical vats. Ageing takes place in two stages: first in 225-litre barrels, less than half of them new, followed by time in large wooden foudres. The result is intended to show fruit (…)Chateau Palmer 2000 2005 2009 3x75cl

Chateau Palmer 2000 2005 2009 3x75cl
On request only
This set brings together three 75 cl bottles of Château Palmer: the 2000, 2005 and 2009 vintages. It is the estate's Grand Vin, a dry red Bordeaux from Margaux in the Médoc, from a property classified as a Troisième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification.
The real fascination here is the vertical tasting aspect. Rather than seeing Château Palmer through a single vintage, you can compare three different growing seasons side by side. The 2000 followed a wet spring and difficult flowering, before dry, sunny weather from mid-July allowed slow and steady ripening. The 2005 came from an exceptionally dry season, with low yields, small berries and concentrated grapes. The 2009 shows a riper, rounder expression, built on healthy, juicy and (…)Chateau Palmer 2011

Chateau Palmer 2011

Château Palmer 2011 is the estate's Grand Vin from Margaux, a dry red Bordeaux from the Left Bank. As a Troisième Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, Palmer already carries a serious pedigree, yet the real interest here lies in how the 2011 vintage shaped the wine: low yields, strict selection and a clear sense of precision.
The blend is 55% merlot and 45% cabernet sauvignon, with no petit verdot included in this vintage. That gives merlot a notably prominent role, while cabernet sauvignon provides the frame and structure. The growing season started exceptionally early, with warmth and dryness, followed by hail that reduced the potential crop. Only a carefully selected part of the harvest was used for the Grand Vin.
In the cellar, (…)Chateau Palmer 2020

Chateau Palmer 2020

Château Palmer 2020 is the Grand Vin of Château Palmer from Margaux in the Médoc. This is the estate's first wine, not Alter Ego de Palmer, and it belongs to the 1855 classified growths of the Médoc as a Troisième Grand Cru Classé.
The 2020 vintage was early and demanding. Budbreak came almost two weeks ahead of schedule, followed by a wet March and a mild, humid spring. From mid-May, dry and warm conditions returned. August brought heat and water stress, while storms helped relieve the merlot before dry weather came back and encouraged tannin concentration.
The blend is built on equal parts merlot and cabernet sauvignon, 48% each, with 4% petit verdot. That balance is central to the wine's identity: merlot gives (…)Chateau Palmer 2020 Magnum (1,5l)

Chateau Palmer 2020 Magnum (1,5l)
On request only
Château Palmer 2020 Magnum is the grand vin of Château Palmer from Margaux, on Bordeaux's Left Bank. In this 1.5-litre format, it carries the stature of a dry red Bordeaux blend and a 3ème Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification.
The 2020 growing season was early and demanding: an early budburst, a wet spring, then warmer and drier conditions with periods of water stress. According to the château, the vintage produced sunny merlot, fine yet powerful cabernet sauvignon and a clear expression of Margaux's gravel-rich terroir. The blend is almost perfectly balanced between 48% merlot and 48% cabernet sauvignon, with 4% petit verdot.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Bordeaux we treat as a bottle with a sense of (…)Chateau Palmer Historical Xix Century 2014

Chateau Palmer Historical Xix Century 2014

Château Palmer Historical XIXth Century 2014 is not a conventional Margaux release, but a red Vin de France built around a historical idea. It refers to the 19th-century practice known as hermitagé, when Bordeaux wines were sometimes complemented with Rhône wine. In this modern version, the Palmer foundation remains Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Margaux, with a modest addition of Syrah from the northern Rhône.
That small Rhône element changes the conversation without taking the wine away from its Bordeaux roots. The 2014 edition, often associated with lot L.20.14, sits outside the Margaux and Bordeaux appellations because of this blend, and that is part of its identity rather than a technical detail.
The 2014 vintage at (…)Chateau Palmer Historical Xix Century 2019

Chateau Palmer Historical Xix Century 2019

Chateau Palmer Historical Xix Century 2019 is deliberately different from a conventional Margaux release. Château Palmer uses this cuvée to revisit a nineteenth-century practice in which Bordeaux wines were complemented by a small proportion of wine from Hermitage or the northern Rhône. Because of that Rhône component, the wine is classified as Vin de France rather than as a Margaux appellation wine.
The 2019 blend brings together Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a smaller share of wine from the northern Côtes du Rhône, identified in product specifications as Syrah. The Palmer part gives the Bordeaux foundation: Merlot from the vintage described as powerful, generous and full-bodied, with Cabernet Sauvignon retaining more coolness and (…)
