Alter Ego 2020 Magnum shows a different side of Château Palmer in Margaux. It comes from the same estate and the same terroir approach, yet since its introduction in 1998 it has been shaped around fruit, suppleness and earlier approachability rather than mirroring Palmer's Grand Vin.The 2020 vintage gives this release a more serious frame. The season started early, with a wet spring that required careful vineyard work, followed by warmer and drier conditions. Château Palmer describes the year through sunny merlots, refined yet powerful cabernets and a clear expression of the Margaux terroir. The blend is 50% cabernet sauvignon, 46% merlot and 4% petit verdot, matured for 18 months in wooden barrels.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this magnum as the kind of Bordeaux that brings presence without losing the polished Margaux feel. The 1.5 litre format makes it particularly fitting for a thoughtful dinner or for cellaring under good conditions, especially now that only the last bottles remain.
Serving at around 16 to 18 °C is recommended. When opened young, decanting can help the fruit and structure unfold more calmly in the glass.

Château Palmer is a renowned wine producer from the Bordeaux region in France, more specifically from the Margaux appellation in the Médoc.
