Product info about Chateau Seraphine 2022
Chateau Seraphine 2022 is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux's right bank, made on a notably small scale. The estate covers around 2.2 hectares across two parcels, and production of the 2022 vintage was limited to roughly 4,000 bottles. At Drankenshop Broekmans, wines like this stand out because the story is genuinely tied to place, scale and careful handling rather than volume.The blend is 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The 2022 growing season was warm and dry, with several heat periods, so vineyard work focused on reducing water stress. The soils are worked by horse, and the grapes were harvested in small baskets, sorted, destemmed, checked again by hand at berry level and moved into the fermentation tanks by gravity.
In the cellar, the choices point to control and restraint. There was a short cold soak, regular pump-overs during fermentation and light extraction, followed by an extended maceration of around three weeks. Malolactic conversion took place in new 300-litre oak barrels and clay amphora, before 12 to 14 months of maturation in a mix of new oak and second- and third-use barrels. Cabernet Franc from young vines at Plince was also fermented and aged in a 1,000-litre clay amphora.
The wine is dry, concentrated and clearly structured, with the kind of profile that has been positioned by several sources as suitable for cellaring. Strong reviews from international tasters add to the interest, but the real appeal lies in the combination of ripe Pomerol depth, limited production and a young estate already working with remarkable precision.
