Blanc de Lynch-Bages 2022 is a dry white Bordeaux from Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac, the estate of the J.-M. Cazes family. Lynch-Bages is best known for its red Pauillac wines, yet this white has built a clear identity of its own. First released commercially in 1990, it belongs to the early wave of white wines produced by a Médoc Grand Cru Classé estate.The 2022 vintage is made from sauvignon blanc, sémillon and muscadelle, with sauvignon blanc taking the lead. The grapes come from Garonne gravel soils and were harvested by hand, with careful selection in the vineyard and again on the sorting table. Even in a vintage marked by early growth and extreme climatic conditions, the grapes reached full ripeness while keeping their freshness.
Six months on the lees in barriques, half of them new, gives the wine extra breadth and a gentle texture without pushing the oak to the front. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a white Bordeaux for drinkers who appreciate clarity, tension and refinement rather than an overtly wooded style.
Serve it well chilled, around 7 to 8°C, with shellfish, seafood, smoked fish or savoury dishes such as quiche and puff pastry preparations. About LYNCH BAGES
Lynch Bages is a French wine producer from the Bordeaux region, more specifically from the Pauillac appellation in the Medoc. The winery has a history dating back to the 18th century and takes its name from the Lynch family, of Irish origin, and the location of the estate in the hamlet of Bages. The vineyards are situated on one of the characteristic gravel plateaus of Pauillac, near the river Gironde. Since 1939, the estate has been owned by the Cazes family, who have further developed and modernized it. The estate is part of the so-called Cinquième Grands Crus Classes according to the 1855 classification. The wines of Lynch Bages are blends of classic Bordeaux grape varieties, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, supplemented with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The style of the wine is known for its firm structure and rich character, often with great longevity and a distinctive Pauillac profile. In addition to the grand vin, the estate also produces a second wine, Echo de Lynch-Bages, as well as some white wines. With a combination of tradition and modern winemaking techniques, Lynch Bages plays a recognizable role within the Bordeaux wine landscape.
