Château Lagrange 2021 Demi is the grand vin of Château Lagrange from Saint-Julien, presented here in a 37.5 cl half bottle. The estate is a Troisième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, placing this wine firmly within the classic Médoc tradition.The 2021 vintage is strongly shaped by Cabernet Sauvignon. The blend contains 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside 14% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot, an unusually high Cabernet proportion for the estate according to the supplied information. That gives this Saint-Julien its firm structure, freshness and precise, rather classical profile.
There is a clear sense of selection and detail behind the wine. The grapes were harvested by hand, then sorted manually and again by optical camera. Vinification took place parcel by parcel in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 21 months in barriques, 50% of them new. The result is a Bordeaux where fruit, tannin and oak influence are closely interwoven.
