Product info about Montes Muse Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Montes Muse Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 is a Chilean red wine with a clear focus on Alto Maipo and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from a vineyard in the foothills of the Andes, on an alluvial terrace along the southern bank of the Maipo River. Cool mornings and nights are an important part of the setting here, helping to frame the ripeness of the fruit, even in a warmer vintage such as 2020.There is a personal story behind Muse as well. Aurelio Montes created the wine as a return to his roots in Alto Maipo, the place where he built his experience with Cabernet Sauvignon and the potential of quality wine from Chile. The wine is also presented as a tribute to the women in his family who influenced him.
The production details show a careful, selective approach. The grapes were picked early in the morning in small 8 kg crates, sorted before destemming and then selected again berry by berry. Fermentation took place in stainless steel, with cold maceration and further post-fermentation maceration, followed by 18 months of ageing in French oak barrels, 70% of them new.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this Montes Muse as a Chilean Cabernet with a strong sense of origin rather than just another powerful red. The 2020 production is stated at 6,000 bottles, and the wine has received several high scores from recognised wine publications. With the last bottles now available, this vintage has become a particularly noteworthy one in the selection.
