Valdespino Palo Cortado Viejo C.P. is a dry, mature sherry from Jerez, sitting in that fascinating space where palo cortado brings together the aromatic finesse associated with amontillado and the fuller oxidative structure of oloroso. It is not a sherry made for haste; it rewards a slower glass.Its background gives it real personality. Valdespino uses Palomino Fino from Macharnudo Alto, specifically Viña Valdespino, and presents Viejo C.P. as a single-vineyard sherry. The wine is drawn from selected botas connected to the criaderas of Inocente and Tío Diego, then continues its long development in the Viejo C.P. solera system.
As part of Valdespino's VOS collection, it has an average age of more than twenty years. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as the kind of bottle for thoughtful drinking: dry, concentrated and shaped by time, with the calm depth that old Jerez wines can carry so well.

About VALDESPINO
The first seeds of Bodegas Valdespino were sown in 1264, when Don Alfonso Valdespino received an estate in Jerez de la Frontera from King Alonso for his help in the fight against the Moors. In the meantime, Valdespino has become a purveyor to, among others, the Spanish and Swedish royal families. The Macharnudo Alto vineyard, which is 56.2 hectares in size, is planted with the Palomino Fino grape, which is also used for the Palo Cortado Viejo. This makes Valdespino the only one in Jerez that produces Single Vineyard Sherrys. The white soil is called albariza and is very rich in lime. The harvest is manual. The Palo Cortado Viejo C.P. has an average age of more than 25 years! C.P. in the name refers to the street where the solera of this sherry was originally located.
