Flavour notes

Château Suduiraut 2013 is described as golden to green-gold in colour. The aromatic profile is generous, with tropical fruit such as mango, pineapple, papaya and star fruit, alongside apricot, peach, orange, mandarin and candied citrus. Honey, beeswax, quince, ginger, white pepper, vanilla and wood spice add depth, with occasional floral hints of verbena, jasmine tea and chamomile.

On the palate it is sweet, full and lush, yet clearly lifted by freshness. Candied citrus, mango, pineapple, apricot, caramel, honey, ginger, vanilla and white pepper carry through the taste. The texture is often described as creamy and silky, finishing long and fresh with fruit, spice, citrus and mineral accents.

Product info about Chateau Suduiraut 2013

Château Suduiraut 2013 is the Grand Vin of Suduiraut, a sweet white wine from Sauternes in Bordeaux. It carries the Premier Cru Classé de Sauternes status from the 1855 classification and comes from the estate in Preignac, where the influence of the Ciron and Garonne can encourage the development of noble rot.

The 2013 vintage is a good reminder of how different Sauternes can be from the rest of Bordeaux. While the year was difficult for red wines, conditions were more favourable here for botrytis. The grapes were picked in selective passes, choosing only fruit or parts of bunches with the right concentration. The wine is based mainly on Sémillon with Sauvignon Blanc, followed by around 20 months in French oak barrels.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see a bottle like this as a wine of selection, patience and precision. Its sweetness is generous, yet the freshness and acidity associated with this Sauternes vintage give it lift and keep the richness from feeling static.

It is a strong gastronomic style of Sauternes, suited to foie gras, blue cheese, poultry, lightly spiced Asian dishes or fruit-led desserts. With only the last bottles remaining, this 2013 has become a less common find in the range.

About SUDUIRAUT

Suduiraut is a renowned winery from the Sauternes region in Bordeaux, France, that has dedicated itself for centuries to the production of high-quality dessert wines. The estate, fully named Château Suduiraut, is located in the heart of Sauternes, close to the famous Château d´Yquem. The vineyards of Suduiraut cover approximately 92 hectares, where especially Sëmillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes are cultivated. In autumn, unique climatic conditions can result in the grapes being affected by the so-called noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), which is essential for the character of Sauternes wines: concentrated, elegantly sweet, and rich in aromas of honey, apricot, and dried fruit. Suduiraut has a long history, going back to the 16th century, and the château has been owned by AXA Millësimes since 1992, a company focused on prominent wineries. The wines of Suduiraut are internationally renowned for their balance between intense sweetness, refined acids, and a long, complex finish. In addition to the Grand Vin, the winery also produces a second wine, Castelnau de Suduiraut, and occasionally small special cuvées. Suduiraut is often associated with wine tradition in Bordeaux and is considered a constant value in the world of noble sweet wines.
