Cantine Sardus Pater Nur Carignano del Sulcis 2021 comes from Sant'Antioco, off the south-west coast of Sardinia, where Carignano is closely tied to sandy soils, sea influence and old vines. It is a red wine from the Carignano del Sulcis DOC, made from Carignano, with the character of the place clearly at the centre.Rather than relying on a dominant oak signature, Nur is shaped around fruit, freshness and Mediterranean nuance. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by further ageing before release, keeping the wine focused on its red-fruited, savoury and gently herbal side. Sardus Pater is a cooperative producer from Sant'Antioco, founded in 1949 and active since 1955, with a strong identity built around Carignano. The name Nur is derived from nuragico, and the label shows a bronze figure found on Sant'Antioco, depicting a Nuragic warrior.
The 2021 vintage received recognition from Falstaff and Veronelli, yet its real strength is how naturally it fits the table. Dry, structured and fruit-driven, it suits Mediterranean dishes, mature cheeses, cured meats, roasted red meat, lamb or tuna. Only the last bottles of this vintage remain.

Sardus Pater is a winery from the south of Sardinia, Italy, with a strong regional identity that dates back to the founding of the coöperative in 1949. Located in Sant'Antioco, close to the archaeological site of the same name, Sardus Pater works closely with local winegrowers who cultivate their grapes on the island and the surrounding mainland. An important feature is the use of indigenous grape varieties, particularly Carignano, which thrives in the sandy soils of the area thanks to the influence of the sea and the Mediterranean climate.
