La Croix Ducru Beaucaillou 2020 is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Julien, made by Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. It is the château's second cuvée, sourced from its own vineyards within the appellation. That gives the wine a clear link to one of the Médoc's notable estates, while remaining a cuvée with its own identity.The 2020 blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a small proportion of Petit Verdot. It spent 12 months in French oak Bordeaux barrels, including a substantial share of new oak, yet the tasting descriptions point more towards dark fruit, graphite, floral notes and savoury spice than towards oak as the main feature.
The vintage adds another layer of interest. 2020 marked the 300th anniversary of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. It was a warm, dry growing season, helped by timely rainfall that preserved freshness. Small, concentrated berries and ripe skins shaped a wine with structure, tension and ageing potential.

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a respected winery from the Bordeaux region in France, more specifically located in the Saint-Julien appellation. The estate owes its name to the striking pebbles (beaux cailloux) in the soil, a feature that contributes to the character of the wines. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou belongs to the so-called Deuxièmes Crus Classés according to the famous 1855 classification. The estate has a rich history that dates back to the 18th century and has been managed by the Borie family since 1941. In the vineyards, mainly cabernet sauvignon is planted, supplemented with merlot, which is typical for Saint-Julien.
