La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou 2020 in magnum is a dry red Bordeaux from Saint-Julien, made by Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. The 1.5-litre bottle is not a separate cuvée, but it does give the wine a different sense of occasion: a generous format for a structured Left Bank Bordeaux.The 2020 blend brings together 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot Noir and 3% Petit Verdot. Its origin lies in the vineyards of Ducru-Beaucaillou in Saint-Julien, with producer information linking the estate to the gravel-rich Günz soils behind the Beaucaillou name. That background fits the wine's profile well: dark fruit, graphite-like tension, ripe tannins and a firm central core.
Twelve months in French Bordeaux barrels, 60% of them new, add notes of cocoa, tobacco, cedar and spice around the concentrated fruit of the vintage. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this magnum as a serious Saint-Julien for drinkers who appreciate structure and ageing potential, especially as these are the last bottles.

About CH DUCRU BEAUCAILLOU
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a respected winery from the Bordeaux region in France, more specifically located in the Saint-Julien appellation. The estate owes its name to the striking pebbles (beaux cailloux) in the soil, a feature that contributes to the character of the wines. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou belongs to the so-called Deuxièmes Crus Classés according to the famous 1855 classification. The estate has a rich history that dates back to the 18th century and has been managed by the Borie family since 1941. In the vineyards, mainly cabernet sauvignon is planted, supplemented with merlot, which is typical for Saint-Julien.
