Product info about Petit Figeac 2020 Magnum (1,5l)
Petit Figeac 2020 is the second wine of Château-Figeac in Saint-Émilion, presented here in a 1.5 litre magnum. The larger bottle format suits a wine that is already designed to be more approachable than the grand vin, while still having room to develop further in bottle.The name Petit-Figeac has been used for the estate's second wine since the 2012 vintage. The fruit comes from Château-Figeac's own vineyards on the western side of Saint-Émilion, close to Pomerol. In 2020 the blend is led by merlot, supported by cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon. That makes an interesting contrast with the estate's well-known gravel ridges with flint and quartz over blue clay, a soil profile that helps explain the important role of cabernet varieties at Figeac.
Maturation took place for around 14 to 15 months in French oak barriques, about 40% of them new. The 2020 growing season brought a warm, dry summer, while spring water reserves helped the grapes retain aromatic freshness, texture and density.
