Giodo Brunello di Montalcino 2018 in magnum is a Tuscan red wine with a very clear identity: 100% Sangiovese from Podere Giodo in Montalcino. The 1.5-litre bottle gives the wine a generous table presence, while the wine itself remains the same Brunello di Montalcino DOCG from the 2018 vintage.Podere Giodo is the personal project of Carlo Ferrini, who acquired his first plot in Montalcino in 2002. The estate is small, around 6 hectares, and its work is strongly focused on Sangiovese, vineyard selection and strict grape selection. For this Brunello, only the best bunches from the estate are used.
After manual sorting, the grapes are moved by gravity into steel tanks for the first stage of vinification. The wine then matures in French oak, followed by time in cement and further bottle ageing; for the 2018 vintage, the available information refers to 36 months in tonneaux, 6 months in cement and 1 year in bottle. That careful ageing supports the structured, precise style described for this wine, with freshness remaining an important part of the 2018 character.
