Marques De Vargas Hacienda Pradolagar 2016 is a Spanish red wine with a very precise Rioja identity. It comes from Hacienda Pradolagar near Logroño in Rioja Alta, and more specifically from La Victoria, a 6-hectare vineyard with vines averaging 40 years of age, planted on gravelly, limestone-rich soils.The 2016 blend is 80% Tempranillo and 20% Mazuelo. The grapes were hand-harvested in small crates, cooled after picking and manually sorted before vinification. Fermentation was adapted to the different soil types, using native yeasts from the individual plots. The wine then spent 23 months in new French oak, with the choice of oak matched to the fruit character and tannin softness of the final blend.
