Château Suduiraut 2019 Demi is the half-bottle format of the Grand Vin of Château Suduiraut, a Premier Cru Classé Sauternes. The 37.5 cl bottle does not indicate a separate cuvée; it is the same sweet white Bordeaux in a smaller, very practical format.The 2019 vintage is made from 94% sémillon and 6% sauvignon blanc. Suduiraut selects fruit from the estate's most prestigious terroirs in Preignac, where gravelly, sandy-clay soils support ripening and concentration. For the Grand Vin, the finest bunches affected by noble rot are picked through successive passes in the vineyard.
Maturation lasts 16 to 20 months, with half in new barriques and half in one-year-old barriques. That ageing gives the wine extra depth while preserving the freshness that keeps its sweetness in balance. Suduiraut is a renowned winery from the Sauternes region in Bordeaux, France, that has dedicated itself for centuries to the production of high-quality dessert wines. The estate, fully named Château Suduiraut, is located in the heart of Sauternes, close to the famous Château d´Yquem. The vineyards of Suduiraut cover approximately 92 hectares, where especially Sëmillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes are cultivated. In autumn, unique climatic conditions can result in the grapes being affected by the so-called noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), which is essential for the character of Sauternes wines: concentrated, elegantly sweet, and rich in aromas of honey, apricot, and dried fruit. Suduiraut has a long history, going back to the 16th century, and the château has been owned by AXA Millësimes since 1992, a company focused on prominent wineries.
