Product info about Giodo La Quinta 2020
Giodo La Quinta 2020 is a Tuscan red with a very clear place within the estate of Carlo and Bianca Ferrini. The name refers to the fifth vineyard planted by Carlo Ferrini at Giodo, near Montalcino, between Sant'Angelo in Colle and Sant'Antimo. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a fine example of how expressive Sangiovese can be beyond the Brunello label.Made entirely from Sangiovese, the wine comes from 3.5 hectares of vineyard at around 400 metres altitude. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by twelve months of ageing in large oak casks, tapered oak tanks and cocciopesto amphorae. Further maturation in concrete and time in bottle complete the élevage.
That mix of oak, amphora and concrete gives La Quinta 2020 its particular interest. It is not presented as a heavy-handed Tuscan red, but as a wine where fruit, freshness and structure are carefully held together. Production for this vintage is stated at 14,000 bottles, and with the last bottles now available, the cuvée has become increasingly scarce.
The 2020 vintage has also received strong recognition from specialist wine publications, including Falstaff, Wine Advocate, James Suckling and Veronelli. Serve it at around 1618 °C with pasta dishes, oven-baked recipes, risotto, white poultry, mild game, medium-aged cheese or pappardelle with hare ragù.

Giodo is a wine brand originating from Tuscany, Italy, founded by winemaker Carlo Ferrini, a name that enjoys great recognition within the Italian wine world. As an oenologist with decades of experience, Ferrini chose to start his own project with complete focus on quality and terroir. The vineyards of Giodo are located in the famous region of Montalcino, where mainly Sangiovese grapes are cultivated. Giodo emphasizes sustainable viticulture and selects only the best grapes for vinification.
