La Croix Ducru Beaucaillou 2019 is a red Saint-Julien from the vineyards of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, closely tied to the gravel-rich soils behind the Beaucaillou name. It is often positioned in the trade as a second wine or as a separate cuvée from selected parcels of the estate, yet it still speaks very clearly of its origin: Cabernet Sauvignon at the core, Merlot Noir close behind and a small addition of Petit Verdot.The 2019 vintage gives the wine real substance. A warm summer produced small, concentrated berries, while late-season rain and cooler nights helped retain freshness. Twelve months in Bordeaux barriques made from French oak, with a significant share of new wood, bring notes of toast, vanilla and polished oak around the dark fruit rather than covering it.

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a respected winery from the Bordeaux region in France, more specifically located in the Saint-Julien appellation. The estate owes its name to the striking pebbles (beaux cailloux) in the soil, a feature that contributes to the character of the wines. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou belongs to the so-called Deuxièmes Crus Classés according to the famous 1855 classification. The estate has a rich history that dates back to the 18th century and has been managed by the Borie family since 1941. In the vineyards, mainly cabernet sauvignon is planted, supplemented with merlot, which is typical for Saint-Julien. The wines from this house are known for their complexity, elegance and the potential to age well. In addition to the grand vin, the château also produces a second wine: La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou.
