Valdespino Oloroso VOS Don Gonzalo is a dry, very old oloroso sherry from Jerez de la Frontera. It sits within Valdespino's VOS collection, a category for sherries with an average age of more than twenty years. In the case of Don Gonzalo, the wine comes from some of the house's oldest soleras, with origins going back to the late 19th century.Its character is built through fully oxidative ageing, without flor development. That long maturation gives this oloroso its deep, nutty and roasted style. It is made from 100% Palomino Fino and is linked to Pago Carrascal, a vineyard area within the sherry triangle specifically associated by Valdespino with this wine.

About VALDESPINO
The first seeds of Bodegas Valdespino were sown in 1264, when Don Alfonso Valdespino received an estate in Jerez de la Frontera from King Alonso for his help in the struggle against the Moors. Meanwhile, Valdespino is a purveyor to the Spanish and Swedish royal families, among others. Directly next to Macharnudo lies the vineyard of Carrascal, designated as grand cru, where the richest sherries such as Don Gonzalo have their origin. It is here that the Palomino grapes come from. The soil is rich in Albariza, calcareous carbonate and clay. This Oloroso ages for over 20 years in the solera system. The color is mahogany and the aroma contains notes of caramel, roasted almond, raisins and dried apricot. The taste is very intense, round with fine acidity and a finish that lasts for minutes.
