About POMMERY
Pommery is a champagne house from the French region of Champagne, located in Reims. The brand became especially well known through the introduction of the first commercially successful brut champagne in 1874, a style with less residual sugar which was innovative at the time. Pommery has its roots at the beginning of the 19th century: it was founded in 1858 by Alexandre Louis Pommery, but grew into an influential champagne house under the leadership of his widow, Louise Pommery. Under her vision, Pommery invested in large parts of the impressive chalk cellars that are still used today for the aging of the champagnes. The brand has an extensive network of its own vineyards and also works together with grape suppliers from the entire region, with an emphasis on typical grapes such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The house has a distinctive fresh style that often combines elegance and liveliness, partly thanks to the relatively high proportion of Chardonnay in the cuvees. Today, Pommery is part of the Vranken-Pommery Monopole group and remains an established name with a broad assortment of champagnes, from popular brut varieties to prestigious cuvees for enthusiasts and collectors.
