Cap D'Or 2022 is a red wine from Saint-Georges Saint-Emilion on Bordeaux's Right Bank. It is positioned as the second wine of Château Cap Saint George and comes from the same terroir north of Saint-Emilion. The wine is built around merlot, with cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc adding further structure and detail.For the 2022 vintage, the blend is 84% merlot, 8% cabernet sauvignon and 8% cabernet franc. The vineyard context is clay-limestone soil with south and south-west facing exposures. That background fits the wine's described style: red fruit, floral notes, freshness, minerality and a subtle touch of oak used to support the fruit and the terroir rather than dominate them.
The grapes are sorted twice, first in the vineyard and then in the cellar. During fermentation, pigeage is used, with a maceration period of 15 to 21 days for this vintage. It gives Cap D'Or 2022 a combination of juicy fruit, tannic presence and mineral tension.
