Flavour notes
The wine shows a deep colour and opens with expressive ripe black fruit: cassis, blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry and dark plum. Around that core are floral notes reminiscent of violet, followed by liquorice, graphite, pencil shavings, tobacco, pepper, mint or menthol, with subtle hints of cacao, chocolate and hazelnut. On the palate, Branaire-Ducru 2022 is broad, supple and fleshy, yet held together by fresh acidity. The tannins are fine and silky, while the wine still has clear structure and concentration. The finish is long, carrying ripe dark fruit, spice and well-integrated oak influence.

Product info about Chateau Branaire Ducru 2022 Magnum (1,5l)
Château Branaire-Ducru 2022 in magnum is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Julien and the grand vin of Château Branaire-Ducru, a Fourth Growth from the 1855 classification. The 1.5 litre format gives this vintage real presence, especially for a wine built around concentration, structure and long-term development. The 2022 blend is led by cabernet sauvignon, supported by merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot. The fruit comes from the estate's vineyards in Saint-Julien, where gravelly and stony alluvial soils are central to the wine's identity. The vintage was shaped by high summer temperatures and marked water stress, yet the château reports that the grapes kept their freshness, with very small berries, ripe pips and strong phenolic potential.
There is also a clear focus on precision in the cellar. From the 2022 vintage onward, Château Branaire-Ducru uses a new fully gravity-fed vat room, allowing separate vinification by parcel and grape variety. The wine then matures for at least 18 months in French oak barriques, with around 60% new oak each year.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum sits naturally among the more serious Bordeaux selections: a Saint-Julien with depth, freshness and room to evolve. Availability is limited, as these are the final bottles of this release.
