Château Bouscaut Rouge 2022 comes from Cadaujac in the Pessac-Léognan appellation and carries the Grand Cru Classé de Graves classification. This is the estate's main red wine, not the second wine Les Chênes de Bouscaut, and it has the shape and ambition of a serious Bordeaux grand vin.The blend is 55% merlot, 35% cabernet sauvignon and 10% malbec. That malbec component gives the wine a distinctive touch within its Graves identity. The vines average 35 years of age, planted on clay-limestone and gravel soils over limestone. For the 2022 vintage, the estate also notes that the wine was in organic conversion.
Fermentation took place in small stainless steel and concrete vats, followed by 14 months in oak barriques, 40% of them new. The result is a red Pessac-Léognan with concentration, structure and clear ageing potential according to several published critics. About CH BOUSCAUT
Château Bouscaut is a French winery located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation in the Bordeaux region, south of the city of Bordeaux. The estate has a history dating back to the early 19th century and today covers approximately 47 hectares of vineyard. Both red and white wines are produced here, using the characteristic Bordeaux grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec for red, and Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and a small proportion of Muscadelle for white. Château Bouscaut is especially known for its elegant and balanced wines, which are usually aged in oak, developing both complexity and aging potential. The winery holds the status of Grand Cru Classé de Graves, awarded during the 1953 classification for both red and white wines, something granted to only a handful of châteaux in this region. In recent decades, there has been active investment in quality and sustainability, both in the vineyards and in the cellar. The Lurton family, who took over management in 1992, continues this tradition with much attention to terroir and craftsmanship, resulting in wines that express the distinctive characteristics of the Pessac-Léognan region.
