Product info about Arran 10y Barley 2026
Arran 10y Barley 2026 puts the barley firmly in focus. This limited-edition Arran Single Malt was distilled from barley grown on the Isle of Arran itself, at Bellevue Farm by the Currie family. That gives the whisky a clear agricultural thread and a closer connection to its island origin. For Batch 002, Arran used the Concerto barley variety, whereas Batch 001 was made with Optic. The whisky matured for 10 years in a selection of First Fill Bourbon Barrels and Second Fill Sherry Hogsheads, in proportions closely aligned with the classic Arran 10 Years Old. Even so, this release places more emphasis on the local barley, with a distinctly warm and spiced style.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottling we value because it adds context without losing the familiar Arran identity. Bottled at 50%, without chill filtration and without added colour, it stays close to the natural expression of the spirit. Only 18,000 bottles were produced worldwide.

About ARRAN
Lochranza Distillery can be found in the village of the same name in the north of the Isle of Arran. That's on the west coast of Scotland, a stone's throw from Glasgow. It's a popular weekend trip from Glasgow, because on Arran you'll find a sort of miniature version of Scotland. A short distance away (the road around the whole island is about 80 km in total) you'll find mountains, valleys, beautiful green meadows, beautiful beaches and everything that makes Scotland so enticing for foodies: fresh produce from the land and sea, and whisky, of course. The distillery's location among the mountains in the north of the island is unquestionably spectacular. So must have thought the eagles who were already living there when the distillery was built. They have since become part of the identity of Arran whisky and you can observe them on site to your heart's content.
The whisky made by Lochranza is much loved. It is characterised by a distinctly fruity character that appeals to novice tasters and experienced whisky lovers alike. The basic range includes whiskies that can now be called modern classics such as the 10yo, the Quarter Cask and the Sherry Cask. All of them are tasty, accessible and affordable whiskies of high quality, carefully blended from the casks aged in their warehouses. The Machrie Moor, the lightly peated version made at Lochranza, is also a favourite of many, but will no longer be produced from 2026, as the group has set up a second distillery in the south of the island making only peated whisky (Lagg Distillery).

Frequently asked questions
What kind of whisky is Arran 10y Barley 2026?
Arran 10y Barley 2026 is a single malt whisky.
The word 'single' causes some confusion for many. A single malt is nothing more and nothing less than a product from a single distillery. So it has nothing to do with a single cask or even casks of the same age.
Single malt whisky is made from malted barley and distilled in the famous copper pot stills, the distinctive copper stills.
Is Arran 10y Barley 2026 a no age statement whisky (NAS)?
No, Arran 10y Barley 2026 is not a no age statement (NAS) whisky. The label explicitly states an age and that age represents the youngest whisky found in the bottle (or in the blend).
Is Arran 10y Barley 2026 a single cask whisky?
No, Arran 10y Barley 2026 is not a single cask whisky.
Is Arran 10y Barley 2026 a whisky at cask strength?
No, Arran 10y Barley 2026 is not whisky at cask strength.
Is Arran 10y Barley 2026 suitable to give as a gift?
Although this Arran 10y Barley 2026 is not or does not have explicit gift packaging, it can certainly make an excellent gift. Gift packs are usually taken as a safe choice of gift because brands often combine the most accessible or their most popular whisky combine with a fun accessory in a nice gift pack. But if you are looking for a gift for an experienced whisky-drinker they may not be waiting for yet another glass and then this one Arran 10y Barley 2026 might even be a better choice than such a gift pack.
Is Arran 10y Barley 2026 a popular whisky?
Absolutely! Arran 10y Barley 2026 is a whisky currently featured in our Top Trending. This top includes the 100 products that recorded the biggest increase in sales in our shops over the past 30 days compared to the 30 days before.
These can be new products, products that have been out of stock for a longer period of time, products that only appear once a year or products that have suddenly skyrocketed in popularity (e.g. due to a sudden hype, trend, positive reviews, etc.).
Is Arran 10y Barley 2026 een goede keuze voor mij?
This Arran 10y Barley 2026 can be a whisky that suits you if you like a whisky with a spicy character. Indeed, this spiciness is quite emphatic in the flavour profile.
However, we recommend that you also check out the rest of the flavour profile, as it is of course only one part of the overall character of this whisky.
Is Arran 10y Barley 2026 a tarred whisky?
No, there is no peat in the flavour profile in this Arran 10y Barley 2026 whisky . The absence of any smokiness therefore makes it suitable for those who do not like a peat flavour.
Is Arran 10y Barley 2026 a spicy whisky?
Yes, Arran 10y Barley 2026 is a whisky with a fairly spicy flavour profile: the spiciness of this whisky will be discernible right from the first sip from your glass.
The spiciness of a spirit can come about in different ways.
- In whisky, the spicy notes mainly arise during the maturation process in wooden casks. The type of wood used (e.g. American oak, European oak) and whether the casks have been used before (e.g. sherry casks) have a big influence on the spiciness of the whisky that comes out of them.
- With rum, the spicy notes can also come from the barrels used, but in addition there is also a separate class of "Spiced rum" where extra spices are added.
- Gin has a much shorter production cycle and therefore does not usually get its spiciness from wood. Spicy notes in a gin are usually the direct result of the botanicals used to "colour" the gin and give it its own identity.
Is Arran 10y Barley 2026 a fruity whisky?
Yes, Arran 10y Barley 2026 is a whisky with a moderately fruity flavour profile: the fruitiness of this whisky will be discernible right from the first sip from your glass.
- Whiskies with a fruity character can range from light and fresh apple notes to deep, ripe stone fruit and exotic aromas. This fruitiness can come from the grains, yeast and fermentation used, the shape of the pot stills and the cask type.
- Rum made from sugar cane or molasses lends itself ideally to fruity notes. From the fresh citrus aromas of a white rum to the deep pineapple and banana notes of an aged variety - fruitiness is an essential characteristic in many rums. Again, the same factors affect fruitiness as with whisky.
Do you drink Arran 10y Barley 2026 pure or with ice?
Whether you drink this Arran 10y Barley 2026 whisky best with or without ice is a personal choice. We have always chosen not to take a stance on adding water or ice to whisky. There are certainly good reasons to add a little water to your whisky, but whether it adds value to you or detracts from your enjoyment is something you should mainly discover for yourself.
Does Arran 10y Barley 2026 have a high alcohol content?
Arran 10y Barley 2026 is not whisky for sissies. The alcohol content of this bottle is quite a bit above the 40% you usually whisky expect, so it's best to take into account that this one can come in solid.
Is Arran 10y Barley 2026 an independent bottling?
No, Arran 10y Barley 2026 is an official bottling of Arran.
Is Arran 10y Barley 2026 suitable for an Irish Coffee?
To make an Irish Coffee according to the rules of the art, you need an Irish whiskey. Since you are going to mix it with coffee and whipped cream, we recommend using a good, but not overpriced whiskey. This Arran 10y Barley 2026 is a whiskey, but because this whiskey comes from Scotland it is not the best choice to make a "real" Irish Coffee.
Did you know that the first Irish Coffee was invented in 1942 by bartender Joe Sheridan? He was working at the airport in Foynes, in the west of Ireland. The barman saw some tired passengers and figured they needed coffee with something special. To perk them up, he poured them coffee with a dash of whiskey mixed in and some coffee on top. When asked if it was Brazilian coffee, Sheridon replied, "No, my friend, this is Irish Coffee." And so it was.

According to the data currently available to us, we cannot state with certainty that this product is vegan and this claim is not explicitly made by the brand.
Is Arran 10y Barley 2026 a biological whisky?

How do I get started on Scotch whisky?
Many people assume that a more expensive bottle of Scotch whisky is automatically better. It sounds logical: the higher the price, the better the quality. But in reality, the difference between a bottle of a few tens and one worth thousands of euros is rarely purely in the taste. What you pay has much more to do with age, scarcity, marketing and reputation than with what you actually taste in your glass.
To understand this properly, it helps to look at Scotch in different "levels". Each level tells you something about what you are drinking and, more importantly, what you are paying for, but not every epicurean goes through all these levels.
You can read all about it in our blog post Why an expensive Scotch doesn't necessarily taste better - the different levels of Scotch.
