Tempo D'Angelus 2023 Demi is a red Bordeaux in half-bottle format, coming from the wider world of Château Angélus and the de Boüard de Laforest family. It is not a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, yet it clearly draws on the experience and precision associated with Angélus, presented here as a Bordeaux AOC with a more immediate style.The 2023 blend is led by Merlot, with Cabernet Franc adding its own detail. The grapes come from vineyards owned by Château Angélus, a few kilometres from Saint-Émilion, around areas such as Castillon-la-Bataille, Saint-Magne-de-Castillon, Sainte-Colombe and Francs. Clay-limestone slopes with tuffeau and marl form the setting, while vinification takes place in the Chai Carillon, a cellar created specifically for this cuvée.
The growing season brought a mild, wet spring, followed by a drier and sunnier flowering period and a cooler summer with thunderstorms. Château Angélus is a winery from Saint-Émilion, in the Bordeaux region of France, best known for its red wines based on merlot and cabernet franc. The estate has a rich history dating back to the 18th century and has been owned by the de Boüard de Laforest family for several generations. Château Angélus belongs to the Premier Grand Cru Classé A category of Saint-Émilion, a designation granted to only a select number of estates based on strict quality criteria.
