Château Gruaud Larose 2022 Demi is the estate's grand vin from Saint-Julien, presented in a 37.5 cl half bottle. The format is smaller, but the wine remains the same in identity: a red AOC Saint-Julien and a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification.The 2022 vintage is strongly shaped by Cabernet Sauvignon, which makes up 83% of the blend, alongside Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from the 82-hectare estate on Garonne gravel, with vines averaging 48 years of age. A warm, sunny growing season produced small berries with thick skins, bringing colour and tannic depth, while cooler September nights helped complete Cabernet Sauvignon ripening with freshness intact.
For Gruaud Larose, 2022 also marks an important step: it is presented as the château's first vintage under organic certification, with biodynamic principles also applied in the vineyard. Eighteen months of ageing in fine-grained French oak barrels, most of them new, give the wine a serious frame while keeping the focus on its Cabernet-driven Saint-Julien character.

About CH GRUAUD LAROSE
Château Gruaud Larose is a winery from the well-known Bordeaux region in France, located in the Saint-Julien appellation in the Médoc. This château belongs to the so-called Deuxièmes Crus, or the second classified growths according to the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855. Château Gruaud Larose is known for its rich history that dates back to the 18th century. The vineyards cover just over 80 hectares and are mostly planted with classic Bordeaux grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and a small proportion of Malbec. Gruaud Larose wines are often known for their powerful structure, complexity, and aging potential, which is typical for Saint-Julien. Production takes place entirely on the estate itself, from vineyard to bottling, with great attention paid to tradition and craftsmanship. In addition to the grand vin, Gruaud Larose also produces a second wine, Sarget de Gruaud Larose, made from younger vines and lots that do not make it into the main cuvée. The château has been owned by Groupe Taillan since the late 1990s, and is overseen by an experienced team that combines old traditions with modern techniques to ensure consistent quality.
