Château Francs Magnus 2022 is a red Bordeaux Supérieur with Merlot firmly at the centre of the wine. The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, grown on limestone-rich soils with a thin layer of clay. That limestone setting matters here: the wine is described with ripe fruit, but also with freshness, precision and a chalky mineral thread.Arnaud Roux-Oulié took over Château Francs-Magnus in 2011. For the 2022 vintage, the selected grapes were carefully sorted and not crushed. Fermentation took place in stainless steel and concrete vats, with remontage and pigeage guided by tasting during vinification. The wine then aged for 16 months, mostly in vats, with 30% in once-used French oak barrels. The result is a Bordeaux where structure is present, while oak remains in the background.
