Chateau Francs Magnus 2019 Magnum (1,5l)

Château Francs Magnus 2019 Magnum is a red Bordeaux Supérieur in a 1.5 litre bottle. That larger format suits the wine well: this is a table-minded Bordeaux, well placed alongside red meat, lamb, duck, cassoulet, roasted poultry or cheese.
The blend is led by merlot, with cabernet franc playing a supporting role. The estate's vineyard is described as sitting on a limestone plateau with clay-limestone soils. In the cellar, stainless steel and cement are used, and the grapes are not crushed after sorting in order to preserve fruit. Maturation is mainly in tank, with a smaller part aged in one-wine barriques.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this bottle stands out as a magnum that keeps a classic Bordeaux Supérieur identity while leaning into a (…)Chateau Francs Magnus 2020

Chateau Francs Magnus 2020
In stock
Chateau Francs Magnus 2020 is a red Bordeaux Supérieur with a clear fruit-driven personality and a recognisably Bordeaux sense of freshness. The blend is built around 90% merlot, supported by 10% cabernet franc. That gives the wine a juicy, supple centre, with the cabernet franc adding lift and a finer sense of tension.
Francs-Magnus comes from a limestone plateau, with a thin layer of clay over the limestone. That setting helps explain the style described for this wine: medium-bodied, fresh, expressive and not overly heavy. After selection, the grapes are not crushed, a choice made to preserve the fruit. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete vats, followed by ageing mainly in tank, with a smaller part in used one-wine barriques.

Château Francs Magnus 2020 Magnum is a dry red Bordeaux Supérieur with merlot firmly at the centre of the blend. The 2020 vintage is made from 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc, grown on an estate of around 13 hectares set on a limestone plateau with a thin layer of clay.
Its interest lies in the way it keeps a clear fruit focus while retaining the structure of Bordeaux. After selection, the grapes are handled without crushing to help preserve fruit integrity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete vats, with daily pump-overs and punch-downs, followed by ageing mainly in vat and partly in used barriques.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum fits neatly among Bordeaux wines for customers looking for a merlot-led right-bank style (…)Chateau Francs Magnus 2021

Chateau Francs Magnus 2021
In stock
Château Francs Magnus 2021 is a red Bordeaux Supérieur with a clear Right Bank profile: 90% Merlot supported by 10% Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from Château Francs Magnus, a 13-hectare estate set on a limestone plateau in Bordeaux. Rather than presenting itself as a heavily built wine, this 2021 vintage places its emphasis on red fruit, freshness and fine structure.
The winemaking choices reinforce that direction. After selection, the grapes are not crushed, a decision aimed at preserving fruit character. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete vats, while ageing is kept deliberately moderate: 70% in vat and 30% in one-wine barriques. The oak influence is present, but it remains in support of the wine rather than dominating it.

Chateau Francs Magnus 2022

Château Francs Magnus 2022 is a red Bordeaux Supérieur with Merlot firmly at the centre of the wine. The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, grown on limestone-rich soils with a thin layer of clay. That limestone setting matters here: the wine is described with ripe fruit, but also with freshness, precision and a chalky mineral thread.
Arnaud Roux-Oulié took over Château Francs-Magnus in 2011. For the 2022 vintage, the selected grapes were carefully sorted and not crushed. Fermentation took place in stainless steel and concrete vats, with remontage and pigeage guided by tasting during vinification. The wine then aged for 16 months, mostly in vats, with 30% in once-used French oak barrels. The result is a Bordeaux where structure is present, (…)
