Château Durfort-Vivens 2022 is the Grand Vin of a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé estate in Margaux, in the Médoc. The wine comes from vineyards in Margaux, Cantenac and Soussans, planted on deep gravel soils with a sand and clay matrix. It is very much a Cabernet-led Bordeaux, shaped by its Margaux origin.The blend is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Merlot. Each parcel was vinified separately, using indigenous yeasts and a gentle extraction approach. Ageing lasted 18 months, with 70% in new oak barriques and 30% in TAVA amphorae. That combination is one of the defining details of this wine: the structure of new oak, alongside an élevage where amphora plays a meaningful role.

Durfort-Vivens combines its 1855 classification with organic and biodynamic certification, and the 2022 vintage is described by the producer as bringing together power, density and length with elegance and energy.

The domaine has a long history that dates back to the 17th century and received its current name after being acquired by the Vivens family in the 19th century. Today, Chateau Durfort-Vivens is owned by Gonzague Lurton, who has continued the winery in the Bordeaux tradition with an emphasis on respect for the terroir.
