Domaine de Chevalier 2022 Blanc in magnum is a dry white Bordeaux from Pessac-Léognan, carrying the Grand Cru Classé de Graves designation. The estate is based in Léognan, in a wooded setting with gravel soils over a clay-gravel subsoil. In this 1.5 litre format, the wine has a particularly fine sense of occasion, whether opened at the table or kept for later.The 2022 blend is 70% sauvignon blanc and 30% sémillon. Harvest took place early, from 22 August to 1 September, after a hot and dry growing season. Domaine de Chevalier attributes the retained freshness and balance to its old vines and relatively cool terroir. The grapes were hand-picked in small crates, with several passes through the vineyard to select fruit at the right level of ripeness.
There is real precision in the way this white wine is made. Fermentation takes place in barriques, followed by 16 to 18 months of maturation, around one third in new oak. The oak is described as integrated and structural rather than aromatically dominant, while ageing on fine lees with bâtonnage adds to the wine's layered, fleshy impression.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum has a natural place among serious white Bordeaux wines with ageing potential. The 2022 vintage has been very well received by international critics, and with only the last bottles remaining, this release has become all the more limited.

Domaine De Chevalier is a well-known wine producer from the French region of Bordeaux, specifically located in Pessac-Léognan, an area that falls within the Graves appellation. The estate has existed since the nineteenth century and has developed over the decades into a fixture within Bordeaux, with a strong reputation for both red and white wines. In 1983, the estate was taken over by the Bernard family, who have since made great strides in quality and modernization, without losing sight of the character and traditions of the property. The vineyard covers about 45 hectares, the majority of which is planted with classic Bordeaux grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and for the white wines Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon.
