Château Doisy Daene Blanc 2022 Magnum is a dry white Bordeaux, and it should be seen separately from the sweet Barsac wines also linked to the estate. This is the Grand Vin Sec, made under the Bordeaux Blanc appellation from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grown on parcels on the Barsac plateau.There is real estate history behind the bottle. Château Doisy-Daëne is based in Barsac, has been in the Dubourdieu family since 1924, and this dry white cuvée was introduced in the early 1950s by Pierre Dubourdieu. The vineyards sit on clayey sand over limestone, a soil profile the producer connects with finesse in the white wines.
The cellar work is equally focused on clarity and detail. The juice is extracted carefully under protection from oxidation, fermented in barriques with one fifth renewed, and then aged for eight months on the lees with regular bâtonnage. Château Doisy-Daïne is a classic winery from the Bordeaux region in France, with a special focus on both dry and sweet white wines from the Barsac and Bordeaux appellations. The winery is part of the prestigious Sauternes area, which is world-renowned for its noble sweet wines, especially due to the influence of noble rot (botrytis cinerea). The history of Château Doisy-Daïne dates back to the beginning of the 19th century, but since 1924 the estate has been owned by the Dubourdieu family, who have played an important role in the development and reputation of the wines from this region.
