Le Comte de Malartic Lagravière 2022 is the second white wine of Château Malartic-Lagravière in Pessac-Léognan, offered here in a 1.5-litre magnum. It is a dry white Bordeaux with more to say than simple freshness: the format, the blend and the cellar work all point towards a wine with aromatic lift and real texture.The 2022 blend is 62% sauvignon blanc and 38% sémillon. Sauvignon blanc brings the expressive, citrus-led side of the wine, while sémillon adds body and a softer feel. The white vines of the estate have an average age of 28 years and grow on well-draining gravel and clay soils over limestone and clay subsoil.
At Malartic-Lagravière, 2022 was shaped by spring frost, drought and several heatwaves, yet the estate describes its white grapes as retaining both ripeness and freshness. The grapes were hand-picked in several passes, slowly pressed under inert gas, fermented in oak and aged on fine lees in French oak barrels, with 25% new oak.

Château Malartic-Lagravière is a well-known wine producer from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the Pessac-Lëognan appellation, part of Graves. The château has a history dating back to the eighteenth century, having known several owners before the Bonnie family took over the estate in 1997. The vineyards cover around 53 hectares and are planted with classic Bordeaux grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for red, and Sauvignon Blanc, Sëmillon with a small proportion of Muscadelle for white. Château Malartic-Lagravière belongs to the select group of Graves vineyards that achieved cru classé status for both red and white during the 1953 classification (revised in 1959).
