Echo de Lynch Bages 2021 is the second wine of Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac. Since the 2008 vintage, this cuvée has carried the name Echo de Lynch-Bages; before that it was known as Château Haut-Bages Averous. It is conceived as a direct reflection of the estate's grand vin, generally with a rounder, softer and more approachable expression.The 2021 vintage has a distinctly classic Bordeaux feel. It was a challenging, cool year, marked by moderate alcohol levels, freshness, good colour and aromatic complexity. The blend is 56% Merlot and 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, with hand-harvested and selected grapes from the Pauillac estate. Maturation took place for 12 months in one-year-old barrels.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Pauillac we like to present as a thoughtful way into the Lynch-Bages style. It carries the same sense of origin, with dark fruit, graphite-like notes and fresh acidity, yet with a gentler and more supple personality than the grand vin.
