La Dame de Montrose 2021 is the second wine of Château Montrose in Saint-Estèphe, made from grapes grown in the same vineyard as the estate's first wine. The 2021 blend is led by merlot at 53%, supported by cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and cabernet franc. It carries the Montrose identity, but in a form described as more approachable than the grand vin.The vintage had its challenges. A cool, wet spring required careful vineyard work, while warmer and sunnier conditions in September helped the four grape varieties move further towards maturity. Harvesting for La Dame de Montrose took place from 26 September to 6 October. In the cellar, the lots were vinified separately in stainless steel vats before 12 months of ageing in French oak barrels, 30% of them new.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum stands out because it brings together several attractive elements: the second wine of a notable Saint-Estèphe estate, the freshness and structure of a cooler Bordeaux vintage, and the table presence of a 1.5-litre bottle. As these are the last bottles, it is also a release with a very real sense of availability becoming limited.
La Dame de Montrose was created in 1983 as a tribute to Yvonne Charmolüe, who led Château Montrose from 1944 to 1960. The estate presents it as another expression of the same terroir, generally marked by red fruit, softer tannins and earlier drinkability while retaining its Saint-Estèphe backbone.

About CH MONTROSE
Château Montrose is a respected winery from the Bordeaux region in France, located in the appellation of Saint-Estèphe, which is part of the famous Médoc area on the left bank of the Gironde. The estate was established in the early 19th century and gradually grew to become one of the important names in the region. Château Montrose has held the classification of Deuxième Cru Classé since 1855, meaning Second Grand Cru Classe, which indicates considerable historical reputation and quality status in the history of Bordeaux wine. The vineyard covers approximately 95 hectares and is planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, supplemented with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
