Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2021 is the second wine of Château Lagrange in Saint-Julien, Médoc. That context matters: it comes from the same estate environment as the grand vin, but represents a more approachable selection. The label was introduced in 1983 as part of the château's stricter selection process, and this 2021 vintage shows that role very clearly.The blend is 52% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot, from vines averaging around 30 years of age. The grapes were hand-picked, sorted carefully, then vinified by parcel. After blending in January, the wine matured for 13 months in barriques, 20% of them new oak. The result is not a wine built around oak impact, but one where fruit, freshness and structure remain the main conversation.
Château Lagrange describes 2021 as a relatively cool growing season, with warmer, drier conditions arriving in early October. The estate highlights balance, aromatic precision and tannic structure in the finished wine.
