Domaine de Chevalier 2021 Rouge Demi is the 37.5 cl half-bottle format of the estate's red grand vin from Léognan in Pessac-Léognan. It is a Grand Cru Classé de Graves and a dry red Bordeaux blend from the Bernard family estate.The 2021 vintage is very much shaped by cabernet sauvignon. The blend is led by cabernet sauvignon, supported by merlot, petit verdot and cabernet franc. After a demanding growing season, the cool, dry, sunny and windy conditions in October were especially favourable for the red grapes, particularly cabernet sauvignon on the gravel soils.
Production details point to a careful, selective approach: hand harvesting in small crates, sorting in the vineyard and after destemming, gravity-fed vatting and temperature-controlled fermentation. The wine then spent 18 months in barrique, with new oak used as part of the élevage, adding notes such as cedar, spice, light toast and mocha rather than making the wine feel oak-led.

The producer describes it as a wine for cellaring, and the vintage has received strong critical recognition.
